Steve Azar — Moo La Moo

July 2nd, 2009 · No Comments

Even though Steve Azar could be making some serious moo-la on the PGA tour, he’s got his heart set on cranking out solid Country tunes. Last year, he started Dang Records and released Indianola. Now he’s back with a brand new one, Slide On Over Here, featuring its first single, “Moo La Moo.” We’re not going to pretend that we know exactly what that means, but it sounds catchy, right? Steve thinks so — and we’ll let him tell you all about it in the New Music Spotlight below:

Jesse Lee — It’s A Girl Thing

June 29th, 2009 · No Comments

According to Wikipedia, Jesse Lee was an American Methodist Episcopal clergyman and pioneer who helped spread Methodism  in the late 1700s… Wait, wrong Jesse Lee! Okay — the Jesse Lee we’re worried about started recording demos in Nashville at age 14 and has some pink hair. Wait again, pink hair in Country music?? Well, according to her Wikipedia, she is dating Paramore’s bass player. But seriously, you all know that Country music has plenty of room for any hair style or color! That’s why we’re spinning Jesse’s new one, “It’s A Girl Thing,” in our New Music Spotlight:

The Parks — As Long As You’re Going My Way

June 26th, 2009 · No Comments

I suppose the first thing you have to mention when introducing the Parks is that they’re a father / son duo. Clint (son) and Johnny (dad) Parks aren’t the male version of the Judds, but they definitely have a throwback sound. So if you’re a fan of Country music and remember when records sold well, you should most certainly check out “As Long As You’re Going My Way” in the New Music Spotlight below!

Megan Mullins — Long Past Gone

May 18th, 2009 · 3 Comments

Megan Mullins

Do you remember what you were doing when you were three? Most of us were probably primarily interested in cartoons and cereal, but Megan Mullins was a bit more, shall we say, “talented” and “ambitious”? That’s when Megan got her start on-stage and won the Indiana State Fair Showmanship award.

Since then, Megan has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, played in the Nashville Star house band and toured with Randy Owen. In fact, she recorded a duet with Randy for his solo album One On One.

Well Megan’s striking out on her own now with what will be her debut album for Stoney Creek Records. The first single off the forthcoming offering is “Long Past Gone.” Check it out below as we give it a spin and chat with Megan in the New Music Spotlight:

Darius Rucker — Alright

May 11th, 2009 · No Comments

Darius Rucker

It’s kind of crazy to think that when Darius’ children grow up, they may refer to their father as “yeah, the Country singer.” While Darius will forever be endeared to many 30-somethings and beyond as “Hootie,” his kids are growing up while their dad is consistently making runs up the Country charts. Another reality that Darius is relaying to his children is that he has more money than they do. We’ll let Darius explain and spin his new one, “Alright,” in our Lifestyle feature…

Miranda Lambert — Dead Flowers

May 5th, 2009 · No Comments

Miranda Lambert

Fresh off the heels of her critically acclaimed Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Miranda’s got a new one out with “Dead Flowers.” If you’re anything like us, you’ve been rocking this song since it came out. We think it’s gonna be another big hit for Miranda. She debuted the song at the ACMs in April, and admits that modern technology has made it more difficult to “debut” new material live. Check it out as we give it a spin in the New Music Spotlight:
