About Eric Elliott

Eric Elliott!

Born on a farm in Southwest Missouri, Eric Elliott was raised on country music. And his love of country music came the hard way… while listening to an AM station 150 miles away in Kansas City from the seat of a John Deere tractor.

Eric’s biggest musical influence was his mother, Ilene, who was a self-taught piano and organ master. His father, Tom, worked extremely hard on the 750 acre farm until Eric and big brother, Mark were old enough to help out. For Eric, that was age 6 when he first started driving a tractor. (Apparently, no child labor laws existed then.)

It was during his sophomore year in college that Eric got his first break in radio doing overnights at KBLT in Baxter Springs, KS. Dubbing it “the Big Sandwich” in one of his breaks nearly sidetracked his career, but luckily he smoothed things over with the station owner by playing his favorite, “Coca Cola Cowboy” by Mel Tillis at least 3 times an hour for a week. This was the same station owner that had installed a 2-way radio under the console in the studio that he didn’t hesitate to use immediately if he thought a jock was “outta line!”

Upon graduating college Eric left the farm and followed his love of music and entertainment to Nashville to pursue a career in music. After 15 years, several songs written and many tours on the highways of America, Eric returned to radio doing mornings at WGGC-FM in Glasgow, KY, creating a cast of characters that played along each morning on the show.

Now working for a 5 station cluster in Nashville, Eric writes, voices and produces commercials among his various other “production duties.” He’s also the host of some show called Country HitMakers.

Eric is married to Leslie and is proud “Pappy” to Ryman (yes… that’s his name) and Ivy. Without the three of them, Eric says he’s just a “big ol’ glob of nothin’!”

And as Eric always says, “Keep puttin’ one foot in front of the other…and DON’T look back!”
